Things start getting sticky at a peanut butter factory where Rick the screaming goat happens to work. The floor manager runs around trying to figure out what is wrong as bottles of peanut butter go flying and all the machines blare warning noises. Everything gets shut down and the manage talks to his team. "Woah, woah, woah! Who's responsible for this?" One of the workers, Kelly, points at Rick the goat, who is on a conveyor belt eating the peanut butter. "If something goes wrong you find a scapegoat. It's what you do." The manager looks disappointed. "Rick...". Rick the goat screams, supposedly at Kelly. Kelly then gets aggressive. "What'd you say?!" She takes off her safety glasses getting ready to fight. Everyone tries to calm her down. "Want to save 15% or more on car insurance, you switch to GEICO. It's what you do." Rick the goat walks away as the manager tries to talk to him. "Rick, don't walk away from me."
Back in the day when memes just started hitting the mainstream, GEICO realized the potential in the social phenomena and started marketing it. It was genius! I can't help but wonder what could be the next big thing in the world of commercials.
